We, in every sphere of our lives, strive to excel. We give our 100% to everything we do, sometimes even more than that. When we are needed to do something we lay out a master plan. One with great textures, greater details & greatest complexity. Bravo! All are impressed. But, are you too?
It’s a phenomenon, the older we grow the wiser we get and this wit comes with the related toppings.........called ‘complexity’. Few people call it a phase towards maturity, for few it’s the life’s goal. Whatever.
Have you ever watched a li’l kid closely? What does he do when he has to cry? Nothing, he just cries. What does he do when he wants to laugh? Nothing, he just laughs. What do we do? We find one; find a reason to laugh, find a reason to cry, find a reason to think, find a reason to get. Aren’t we getting to much reasoning?
The KISS principle is a very old one. People like me working in system designing & development domain treat it like the holy divine mantra. Not because it helps us do things with ease in the current moment, but also to avoid unseen complexities of the future.
This, principle for everyone, is known infamously as “Keep It Simple Stupid”. You got it right, it’s about one’s approach towards things, towards solving problems, towards looking for a solution......one’s approach towards life.
There are times when we strive to give more than the best. And that is where we need to stop. We don’t need to throw ourselves to a situation rather we just need to walk up to it.
Try applying this principle in each & every part of your life and you will feel how simply effective it is. Be it in your relationship handling, be it talking with people, be it handling proposal, be it proposing, be it customer interaction, be it litigation handling, be it problem solving, be it anything, be it anywhere. It just works wonders. Just try to keep it simple.
There is a saying......”rather than finding a complex solution to a simple problem, find a simple solution to a complex problem”. :)
Cheers!
