Start Small Grow Big

Everyone wants to create an empire, everyone wants to create a world class product, and everyone wants to invent the most innovative product ever. Great! But one needs to remember, a seed takes time to grow and become a tree.

You have to start small!

When one starts a new business, one thinks of making a new empire immediately, cool. But every empire starts with laying-down of one tiny foundation stone. We, specially people who are related to computers, know well how the Giants of today named as Google, Microsoft, etc. evolved. They started with a handful of people, handful of resources. They started Small. Time, perspiration, everything went in and that is the result that, now today, they are a complete world in their own.

Not only that when we start small we have better scope of control, but we also have enough room to expand, to grow. Think of a situation if everyone was born 5 feet long. Sounds imaginative but then there would have been no childhood, there would have been no fun-filled learning, there would have been no excitement, there would have been no innocence, there would have been no cute memories, there would have been no precious photo-albums. Not to mention the trouble of making a huge body like that come on this earth. Phew! Scary thoughts.

Sometimes, I wonder how a seed (as tiny as a point of needle) can turn so huge. Is it some kind of super encryption? .zip V2.0? Then as I rest my technical mind a li’l and think practically I understand, that it’s the combined effort of tons and tons of sun light, tons and tons of air, tons and tons of water, tons and tons of shades, tons and tons of shedding, tons and tons of growth that goes in the process. And yes most importantly Tons & Tons of Time. Nothing happens before time, nothing. Still, honestly speaking, this seems like a Magic to me!

Have you ever watched a small plant coming out of a broken wall? Have you ever watched an egg unwrapping a small bird with chirpy sound, have you ever imagined [I can’t say watched ;)] a baby developing in a womb. I know you are just thinking that, isn’t it mysteriously magical?

Most of the people trouble themselves at the first go by looking at the “big” picture. Have a broad vision to cross the sea, but target small islands.

We all make resolutions, often at the new year eve. And at least 10/10 people know that those resolutions don’t last long. (That’s the reason I don’t make any). It’s nice that this habit gives us a chance to look for areas where we can work, but rather making resolutions like, “I will quit smoking from tomorrow” it’s better to start with “just 1 stick every day for the next 1 week and then gradually I will decrease further”. That may sound like bargaining with ourselves, but that works better. You can relate this to various other examples around you

Remember, “you have to start small”.

Few people call it, “the magic of baby steps”. And it’s true, baby steps have enough magic, just give it a try I am sure you will see some castles coming up fast, real ones.

Start small, grow big!
