This Sunday, leave the pants at home when you’re heading to the subway stop — The 15th Annual No Pants Subway Ride is back. It's happening on this Sunday (January 10, 2016).
The event will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday throughout New York City.
If you want to join in on the fun, it’s easy: Participants board trains at different stops wearing their normal clothes — but without pants. Some take their pants off during the ride. They casually ride the subway and pretend to not know one another. Straphangers who didn’t get the memo, well, the confused and (some) horrified looks on their faces just say it all.
Here are the 3 p.m. meeting points:
Astoria: Hoyt Playground
Brooklyn: The Old Stone House
Downtown Manhattan: Foley Square
Lower East Side: Sarah Roosevelt Park on Houston
Queens: Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park
Uptown Manhattan: Great Hill in Central Park
Williamsburg/Bushwick: Maria Hernandez Park
At each meeting point, participants will be assigned to specific trains to divide up the group. Remember: No one knows each other.
The No Pants Subway Ride, hosted by Improv Everywhere, began in 2002 as a prank between seven friends. It’s now become a pantless one day celebration that has spread to dozens of cities, including Boston, London, Shanghai and Berlin.
Nearly 4,000 New Yorkers participate in the event.
The event is schedule to end around 5 p.m. For those who want to meet other pantless riders, there is an afterparty at Webster Hall.
